The Hiland Hall Middle School
The Hiland Hall School Middle School is based on a progressive model that is dedicated to providing students with the opportunity to realize their fullest academic, social, and emotional potential. Employing a project-based, emergent curriculum the program is intended to result in each student achieving ownership over their own choices—be they academic, social, or emotional. To this end, each student is asked to consider three objectives; trying, thinking and respecting. It is our hope that by combining these three characteristics students will begin to seek out meaning in both their schoolwork and their lives.
On a more concrete level, Middle School students are faced with varied opportunities throughout each day to apply trying, thinking and respecting. While no day is ever the same, there are patterns that create a rhythm that we use to build our daily activities around.
