20th Anniversary Capital Campaign

Happy Birthday to us!
The Hiland Hall School will be celebrating its 20th year in 2011. We chose not to prepare a glossy brochure for this occasion, as we feel there is something better to represent the school – the growth of the amazing children whom you care about. The Hiland Hall School provides them with a safe and stimulating atmosphere, surrounded by nurturing teachers, parents and friends.
You are no doubt aware of the diverse experiences that children have at Hiland Hall: gardening and cooking; performing the plays of Ancient Greece and staging Math Olympiads; older ones reading to younger ones; the creation of a “town” where students produce, buy and sell their own goods and services. Our students’ own interests drive the curriculum, which is at the heart of the school’s mission to provide excellence in progressive education.
To coincide with this milestone, we are launching a capital campaign. The main purpose of this initiative is to implement the recommendations of a recent energy audit. Of course, this makes financial sense, but it also ties in with our long-held dedication to stewardship of the earth and of each other. Our top priority is to insulate the building thoroughly, thereby cutting our energy costs and reducing our carbon footprint. When this has been achieved, we will replace our giant, 40-year-old furnace with a small and efficient alternative.
This program also has an educational component for students. Not only will they look at how their school consumes energy, but from a wider perspective, the students will understand energy policies within the United States and beyond, examining the world’s available energy resources, and the impact of current energy use on the global environment. While the gift we are asking you to consider will help to reduce energy consumption within our school, the greater impact may be the choices and changes that these children create throughout their lives with regards to a green energy approach. Our intent is that your investment in this program will have a positive impact on energy use well beyond the walls of The Hiland Hall School.
We hope you will consider a gift to The Hiland Hall School. It is an investment in children who will undoubtedly go on to try and make the world a better place.
Your tax-deductible gift can be mailed to our school or made online at:
